More than 20,000 visitors celebrated the return of the fireflies with SPARK Italy. The extraordinary exhibition lit up Pesaro's night sky with a swarm of glowing, eco-friendly sparks in honour of the Italian Capital of Culture 2024.

We are thrilled to announce the unveiling of our latest public artwork ‘Traces’ (‘Lichtsporen’ in Dutch) at Thor Park in Genk, Belgium, on 26th September.

‘Traces’ marks an important moment in the transformation of Genk from its coal-rich past to becoming a beacon of renewable energy and innovation.

In honor of the Italian Capital of Culture 2024, the city of Pesaro will host the Italian premiere of our ecological fireworks installation SPARK. Inspired by fireflies, SPARK will transform the public Miralfiore Park into a captivating wonder on 22-24 March in 2024 at 20.00 to 23.00. Free entrance.

Studio Roosegaarde collaborated with the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi and Modon to enhance air quality and install the first SMOG FREE TOWER in Abu Dhabi. The SMOG FREE TOWER uses ionisation technology to capture pollution and create a clean air park after its introduction to China, the Netherlands, South Korea and Poland.

From the captured smog particles a SMOG FREE RING is created as a tangible souvenir. By sharing a SMOG FREE RING you donate 1000 m3 of clean air to the city.

The SPARK Tokyo exhibition with Hermès brings our sustainable fireworks to Japan this holiday season, blending art and technology. Inspired by Hermès' 150th-anniversary fireworks, this modern magic unfolds in Tokyo in 2023.

See the stars in your own street. It might sound like a fairytale, but the Dutch city of Leiden achieved this by switching off its lights.

Although it was cloudy, we suddenly saw Saturn and other stars in the historical streets of Leiden. It was so mysterious to walk with so many people in a dark city. It’s official: The city of Leiden will switch off its city lights on September 25 between 22.00 till 23.30 to see the stars together. Lights off, stars on. All citizens of Leiden are encouraged to participate. SEEING STARS Leiden is accompanied with a cultural and citizen science program as part of the Leiden European City of Science 2022.

SEEING STARS Leiden is in one of the most light polluted areas in the world. More than 80% of the world’s population lives under light-polluted skies; a barrier preventing us from experiencing the beauty of the universe.

URBAN SUN cleans public spaces of the coronavirus with a safe far-UVC 222nm light to bring human well-being.

URBAN SUN will be exhibited as part of The Solar Biennale on 10 and 11 September at monument de Boeg next to Erasmusbrug in Rotterdam.
