When was the last time you saw fireflies? In Bali, Roosegaarde spent three years nurturing their return. Once abundant across rice fields, their glow had nearly vanished. Through a collaboration with local Balinese and a dedicated breeding program in the private FiREFLY GARDEN, these luminous guardians have come back to life, shot under red light invisible to them.
In Bali, Roosegaarde’s FIREFLY GARDEN revives fireflies through a 3-year breeding program. The film Return of the Fireflies, premiering this October, has gained international acclaim, winning Best Microfilm at Touchstone USA, Short Film Award at Bracciano Italy, Outstanding Achievement at Sundarban India, and Finalist at International Film Festival The Hague. It is also officially selected for festivals in Kyoto, Mexico, Indonesia, Sweden, and New York.

SPARK reimagines fireworks for a new era — biodegradable lights drift silently across the night sky. No loud bangs. No frightened dogs.
